Alabama’s Million Dollar Band Will Soon Have a Better Practice Field Than Some College Football Teams
The University of Alabama Million Dollar Band will soon get access to its newly renovated practice field, which could easily be mistaken for a field Nick Saban's football team might use.
Butler Field, which sits catty-corner from Sewell-Thomas Stadium between University Boulevard and Paul W. Bryant Drive, will soon feature a full-size, artificial turf football field that is even painted to reflect the look inside Bryant-Denny Stadium on gamedays.
The project began earlier this year as part of a plan to improve the band's practice area, which was an unlevel grass field prone to holding water after heavy rains. The project also includes a parking four-story parking deck that will go up in place of the adjacent commuter lot.
Here's how the field used to look:
Now, take a look at an aerial photo recently taken by Todd Media and posted to their Facebook page and you'll see the dramatic improvement. Keep in mind that this is a field built strictly for the band and you'll get a clear picture out how committed The University of Alabama is to be successful in every arena.

The practice field is expected to be open sometime in July.
